Jesus dressed in the garb of the day..he wore his hair according to the way the others did.

Today big hair only draws attention to the woman.

Jesus told us it should be the person inside that is beautiful and not the outward braiding of the hair or the ornaments they wear.

In other words modesty in all things.

Erm...you know, I have wondered that myself? I've seen that blonde lady...wouldn't you hate to have to pay for her make up?

Heck, for that matter, wouldn't you hate to have to pay for the guy's make up!

Maybe they are trying to get God's attention?

Then again, maybe they already have attracted His attention, and they just don't know it yet....

As a Christian, I find most televangelists to be an embarrassment.

Contrary to Bob's comment, the hippie movement was AWAY from materialism.

As an original sixties flower child, I typically wore jeans or shorts, a t-shirt, and a head band around my forehead, and barefoot sandals. I made the head bands and the sandals myself. I didn't even own any make up.

Then again, I was a "Country Hippie"...the sort that lived on a commune and shared everything with the rest of the group. The hardest drug we used was marijuana, which we grew ourselves. We were the "Jesus Freaks".

I think it's a Pentecostal thing. I grew up in the faith (and survived!), so I know the look you're talking about. They also seem to wear alot of make-up. I call it the Pentecostal hooker look. They also seem to wear enough perfume for someone to smell them coming from miles away.

The men aren't much better. Their hair looks like a hair helmet. To me, the "Pentecostal look" is all just rather strange. I'm not trying to knock southern states, but you do seem to see the look more in southern states than anywhere else. Tammy Faye Baker was the worst. All that stuff around her eyes. And she just TORTURED her poor eyelashes and lips!!
